SUMMARY:Maywood to Host 5K Trail Walk June 29
DESCRIPTION:SHEBOYGAN\, WI – Maywood Environmental Park is excited to announce its 2nd Annual Walk on the Wild Side 5K Trail Walk. The event will be held on Saturday\, June 29 at the park. Participants can begin walking anytime between 9am and Noon that day. For information on how to register visit https://gomaywood.org/events/walk-on-the-wild-side/ \nMaywood’s Walk on the Wild Side raises vital funds for environmental education programs and projects at the park. The walk route allows participants to explore all six of the park’s habitats: mixed hardwood forest\, pine forest\, ponds\, river\, wetlands\, and prairie. Along the route are family-friendly games and information about each habitat. \n“Many people don’t’ realize that the programs offered at Maywood are provided by a non-profit organization that supports the park. The money raised through events like Walk on the Wild Side allows the Trust of Maywood to continue to offer these programs\,” said Kendra Kelling\, Maywood Park Director. \nThe walk is not timed and encourages participants to take their time and enjoy nature. Following the walk\, participants will enjoy snacks and beverages at the Ecology Center. \n“The Walk on the Wild Side is a great way for family and friends to spend time together in nature\,” said Angie Doell\, Trust Administrator and organizer of the event. “It allows people the opportunity to explore areas of the park they may not have visited before.” \nIn addition to the 5K Trail Walk\, a shorter prairie loop will be offered for those preferring a flat walking route. A virtual event is also available throughout the month of June for those unable to participate the date of the walk. \nFor more information\, visit the Maywood website\, email maywood@sheboyganwi.gov\, or call (920) 459-3906.
